R.E.G.G.I.E

I've been a man of few words the

past several years

but today I wanted to share a few words of the

hurt I feel

after losing my oldest brother Mr. Reggie on

12/19/23.

We didn't always meet eye 2 eye

on many of things

while hitting a few nerves time & again

but losing this unique soul truly breaks my heart:(

All he ever wanted to do was music &

create a positive impact on those around him.

Looking back, that's exactly what he did

in his own way.

Gonna miss you sir. Love ya & never forget.

Peace!...with 2 fingers!

MoveOn.

After arriving back 2 hometown Chicago for
family & support, we decide on a few days
@ the Weddington's getaway.

This would be the most perfect time 2
gather & reestablish ourselves after losing
big sister from her bout with cancer.
(Rest in Peace Jackie...we loooove & miss you dearly.)

Brother Ken has been trying 2 get me out here for
several years but the timing was never right...until now.

This was the most perfect way 2 catch
up on old times & just "chill"....
not 2 mention visit the pier where other
sister Vivian's ashes were laid.
Hmm!...looking back over those younger
years, things may have appeared
slightly dysfunctional 2 some but
we considered it just a bit complicated..
lol;/

It's been an absolute blessing 2 have wonderful
memories & the opportunity 2 reminisce
on what was good.
The backyard barbecue parties,
yearly gatherings
& just us being us.

One massive lesson revealed is 2 make the most
of every situation & don't worry about
tomorrow for it's never promised.
MoveOn man...Moveon.

Peace!...with 2 fingers;)

Count.

It's time again for another trip
2 Chicago & some recreation
with the brothers.
We spend little time together as a unit
but when we do it's usually
intense in a loving kinda way.
One minute we're laughing...
plotting 2 kick your azz in that puddle
of mud the next.

It's a love hate type of thing & can only be
defined as what family do.
(Believe me, I've seen worse across the street
so we're good...lol)

Anyways, this year's theme
involves remote control cars...
lets see here...

Kenny's car retail value...$350 bucks
Reggies...$5.00 from the local thrift spot.
Who wins?....
Had 2 capture this one on video for keepsakes but
someone needs 2 upgrade for sure.

So what's in store for next year?
Shit, who knows.

Peace!...with 2 fingers;)

Hurt.

I know there will come a time when
we leave this plane onto another.

Until then, we have 2 pretend while putting off the pain.
May not be what we want but it's what we need for
sometimes the only way around it is 2 let love do it's work.

It's been nearly 6 years since losing
sister Vivian & here we are again
with another shattering loss.

My eldest sister "Jackie" battled cancer for several
years & left us September 10, 2016.
She was known for being extra assertive yet kind.
Silly but stern....
Guess you can say that she had the
most perfect balance of everything.

Though unable 2 fulfill her dream of establishing
she has laid the foundation as a vocal leader
for those who couldn't be heard.
It was pretty apparent who the
hands down leader was over the years
growing up in the Weddington home.

We just knew it was gonna be alright cause
she was always there.
(sigh!!)

....Now is the time 2 fully stand on my own.

Rest in Peace big sister.
We love you.

Peace!....with 2 fingers;)

Family Tymes.

Finally, finally had the chance 2
meet up with younger brother Ken
& family for some convo, beer & cheers.

It's been several years since last getting together
so this was pretty special 2 say the least.

This place has brought countless
memories of backyard barbecues & simply enjoying each other's company in our own strange sometimes unusual way.

...wouldn't spend my 45th
birthday any other way...
that's right...45;)

Anywho, lil' Ken appeared mighty
excited about his upcoming journey away
2 college.

(enjoy the microwave, you'll definitely put it 2 use.)

As for niece Kayla, I was
totally impressed with her
amazing knack for
musicianship.
(Just keep at it....)

I even had the privilege 2 see
older niece Roshunda who just
so happened 2 stop by.

Now how often does that happen?
Hardly ever...

Ken & Danielle,
thanks again for everything.
You guys are amazing!;)
Well I guess it's time 2 pull
out the trusty Canon cause
there's no way I'm gonna
miss this.

It's all about family.
My family.

That's right!

Peace!...with 2 fingers;)

Roots.

Finally made it back 2 the good ole' Chi
after only a 2 hour flight & a nifty rental.
Whew!.....so what's first.

Mama as always worry about the smallest of
things but love her anyways.
Some things will never change;/
Over the years I've looked at her as my personal example
of strength & resilience, enduring numerous bouts &
coming out stronger on the other side.

One thing I've noticed, brotha Reggie
has 2 always come for the ride
no matter & that's cool.
lol...that's just what family do.

Been nearly 4 years so there's some
catching up 2 do...
just not until 4 in the morning.....Reggie....please;)
These here are ROOTS from which I come
& wouldn't had it any other way...

Let's pray on it!...
Like MAMA always do on Sunday mornings..
SHOUT!!!
(lol)

Peace!...with 2 fingers;)

Game.

It's about time for that much anticipated
return back 2 hometown Chicago.
This is much deeper than just showing my face but more of
an opportunity 2 tie up lose ends.

It's nothing like sharing time with those closest & just letting them know you love them unconditionally no matter the difference.

I guess it's time 2 share my family with the trusty Canon.
Hmmm.....this should be interesting.
First I gotta take this trip from sunny Maine 2 Logan airport in Boston.
Just for the record, I'm not a big fan of flying anywhere.

The idea of falling 6,000 feet from the sky in a metal can kinda freaks me out...as it should anybody.
lol...

Ok...ok..ready?

Let's go!

Peace!...with 2 fingers;)

Gimme a Call.

Steppin' out 2 give a lil' hello 2 family & current happenings in my world as of late..
Hey Mama. (everything is fine. don't worry)
Sister Jackie. (keep smiling'). Brother Reggie (keep on singing' man). Kenny. (you're superdad!)...Sister Viv. (always thinking of you.) Al Jr. (hawks win!). Kenya (so you're a doctor now!). Shantel. (did we lose you 2 vegas! where are you? lol). Ken Jr. (finished high school in nearly 3 years....whew!). Kayla (play that piano gurl.) Lil' Cory. (we have our very own deion sanders. go get em'!). sister in law Danielle. (love your hair...envy) Cousin Sheryl. (remember those SIU dayz? oh boy!) Sandra. (you're such the diva just like yo' mama!!)...Hey Fannie:). What's up Karla & Tiff (grown azz women...i see you). June. (what's up man. wish we were closer). Extended family... (can't wait 2 meet ya!)

Man, I miss Chicago.

Lately I've been inspired 2 capture some new engaging moment with my Canon 7d & cut up some video but dayum this weather.!

Simply put, I feel nil pleasure from sub zero temps
& 20 foot snow drifts.
It's Cabin Fever dammit!! lol.

Pretty much living the routine. Chill work sleep work...(twiddle my thumbs...then back 2 work (in that order). There's surely an urgency 2 reestablish the local scene & get out the house for a change...sooner than later.

For now, Thank goodness for the 27' inch IMac which has come 2 save the day on a many occasion.
That's where I go 2 make a beautiful picture, write a blog or cut a music video.
What else could an artist ask for? ;)

Until next time...

Hey Ma...gimme a call ;)

Peace!...with 2 fingers;)

Weathered.

I used 2 often lay awake @ night tryin'
tame this weary mind.
Thinkin' just way, way 2 much
I found self tradin' love for indifference...
(that's another story for a later date).

Maybe I was just 2 hard on myself always
looking' & wantin' more
... unable 2 accept the life that's mine.

Living simple was my desperate cry while feeling rusted & weathered
 - barely holdin' it all together.

Just had keep remindin' self that it all gets better in time.
Yep! Guess I was right after all:)

Peace!...with 2 fingers;)
